Our crew and christmas: These things can not be missed! Here you can read up on how we spend our festive season together…

The Christmassy smell

The smell of freshly baked christmas cookies, mulled wine and hot punch… Who doesn’t love it? It comes every year again with the christmas markets, parties and the baking of christmas cookies with friends. Just because this year these events can’t take place that doesn’t mean that it can keep us from spending the christmas time with our most important traditions, the christmas party and the Secret Santa,  together.

The Secret Santa and the christmas party

The Secret Santa is a tradition of ACIM by now. We write down our names on some pieces of paper and then we draw by lot who has got who. We determine if it should be something bought or selfmade. The important thing is that it is made with love. In the last training session before the christmas holidays we call it a day one hour before we usually finish, as an exeption, to exchange our presents, to unpack them and to spend some time together in which we’re not training. (Chocolate, gingerbread and spiced cookie is of course there with us). Obviously this time we can’t meet altogether in person to draw our names by lot and exchange our presents. But there is no way we would just skip our traditions!! That is why our coach Ece took on the assignment to do the drawing by lot and handing out the names. When everybody knows who he needs to prepare his gift for, the preparation can begin. It’s time to get creative! And that without asking for your partner if they have any wishes, because who drew who, needs to stay top secret until the unpacking. The gifts are sent by mail this time. Finally we meet over Zoom to unpack our gifts together! How exciting!

What are you guys doing to celebrate christmas jointly in spite of Corona? Do you bake christmas cookies over zoom? Or do you do the secret santa like us? What else do you think can not be missing in the festive season? Let us know!
